Servings: 4-6 people
Cooking Time: 30-35 minutes
Ingredients:
-
1 pound of ground beef
-
1/2 medium onion, finely chopped
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 cup mushrooms (button or cremini), sliced
-
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
-
1 teaspoon salt
-
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
-
1/4 teaspoon paprika
-
2 tablespoons of butter
-
2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
-
1 cup of beef broth
-
1 cup red wine (optional)
Instructions:
-
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix well with your hands or a wooden spoon until just combined.
-
Divide the mixture into 4-6 portions, depending on your desired patty size. Shape each portion into a thick patty.
-
Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for 3–4 minutes per side, or until browned and cooked to your desired level of doneness.
-
Transfer the patties to a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until cooked through.
-
While the patties are baking, melt the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter in the same skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until they release their moisture and start to brown, about 5 minutes.
-
Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
-
Gradually add the beef broth and red wine (if using), whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until the gravy thickens, about 5–7 minutes.
-
Serve the hamburger steaks with a spoonful of mushroom gravy on top.
Tips and Variations:
-
Use high-quality ground beef for the best flavor.
-
Add a sprinkle of chopped fresh parsley or thyme for extra flavor.
-
Serve with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes or roasted vegetables.
-
Try using different types of mushrooms, such as shiitake or cremini, for a unique flavor.
